The work and life of a Community Education Manager in Japan

Making a switch… or two ?

Hi all! Today, I come with two pieces of important news.

I’ve switched roles at Automattic

In November 2018, I started this blog to document my reapplication to becoming a Happiness Engineer at Automattic. That second application was accepted, and in June 2019, I joined Automattic.

Now, three years later, I am pleased to announce that I have switched roles within the company! You’ll now see me on the Automattic “About Us” page as a Community Education Manager! In this new role, I’ll be much more involved with the open-source WordPress project, contributing a majority of my time to the WordPress Training team.

During the last three years, I have enjoyed my time as a Happiness Engineer. Aside from getting to interact with our customers each day, I…

  • Was part of the efforts of starting up a Japanese support team.
  • Contributed to internal education.
  • Revamped our new hire onboarding program in Happiness, and welcomed many new colleges to the team.

My new role gives me opportunity to use these experiences in a completely different environment. I look forward to sharing my journey with you in future posts.

My blog will undergo some major changes

To reflect my new role, I’ll be making some extensive updates on my blog over the next few days. As part of that process, WordPress.com followers will no longer receive notices of new posts by email – only in the Reader.

If you are a WordPress.com follower on my site, you will need to re-subscribe to my blog via email to continue receiving future notices of published posts.

You can do this by visiting https://bsans.blog/ after the changes have been made, and signing up with the signup form you’ll see on the homepage.

If you’re interested to hear what a Community Education Manager does, what memories I’ll continue to put in my Treasure Box, or have an interest in either WordPress or Automattic, do come back in a week’s time to resubscribe! I look forward to connecting again once the switch has been made ??

Thanks for reading!
